THE
Megacon 2003
2003 Convention

Well, I made it back from Megacon in one piece, and considering we drove over 22 hours straight the day after the convention, that in itself, is a great accomplishment!
I was very pleased with this convention. Megacon was a three day show, as per usual, the Friday was slow for the Small Press area as everyone came in to see the larger, more well known artists. So, I admit, I was getting a bit worried, but then came Saturday and Sunday. These two days renewed by faith in comic collectors. The Small Press area was busy, people were asking artists that they had never heard of to create pin-ups for them AND they were paying them to do so. I can honestly recommend that if you are at the stage where you want to set up at a comic convention to sell your comic, this is a convention you should go to!
OK! Now let's continue on with my Megacon 2003 Report with PICTURES!!

Here we have the entrance of the actual Convention. I was very impressed that even though this was the first time I had personally ever set up at this convention, RUMMBLESTRIPS had it's name on the giant pilar. I know, I know, it may not seem like THAT big of a deal. It did to me though...

I had to take a picture of this because of the silly announcements I heard all weekend. You see, many of you looking at this picture are saying, "Wow, the Batmobile! Cool!" Well, you're wrong, it's not the Batmobile, it's the "Bat Car"... I think it must be a legal thing. Oh, and you weren't allowed to touch the car, hehe

Here's a few convnention sketches that I had to share with you

Someone asked me to draw a Samurai Penguin, so I did. Little did I know until now that there used to be a comic out called "Samurai Penguin" HA!

Here is one of my all time favorite villians, THE JOKER. I like to laugh, he likes to laugh, we have things in common.
I had to work really hard on this one as the guy who commissioned me to draw it showed me the only other Joker he had... by Jim Lee. Talk about pressure, eep!

This drawing of the lovable, yet completely detested Carl, the Manager of Jugglers was created by one of the awesome dudes at Special-Comics I think their website will be up soon, so check back here soon!

Speaking of Special-Comics, here is one of them playing with several dozen cheerleaders. Yep, in the next room of the convention center, there was a Cheerleading convention and competition going on. Yet another reason for all you fan boys out there to come to this show next year, I believe they booked the same weekend...

AND HERE ARE THE COSTUMES!!!

A couple of Spider-Man's bad guys.

AH! Orcs!!! Here I am with two amazing costumes.

Interesting side note with this picture. Ofcourse you can see these two lovely ladies, but if you look closer, you'll see the crazy guy in the background with the amazing Gwar costume. Those guys had a booth behind me and every once in a while when I was talking to people at my table, they would suddenly go wide eyes and tell me not to turn around. It seems the Gwar guys were changing into their costumes... right there Ugh

We all saw it coming. Leia has drifted to the dark side. She just couldn't resist all those lovely molded plastic armour. GROOOWWWLLLLL, that and the fact that ONLY an evil woman would wear a metal bra, ooops, sorry Xena.

These two guys were so cute, I mean talented, that I could not resist putting two pictures of them up here. They were amazing. They are professional Jugglers, and really loved the fact that the restaurant in Rummblestrips is called "Jugglers". They're just in the middle of getting their own website but could not figure out a name. I suggested We Throw Up.com I'll keep this dead link up here for now, Who knows if they'll take my advice

Here I am with my husband Matt, and two really nice and talented people. The tall gentleman is Ronn Sutton, the artist for Elvira and the lovely lady is Janet Heatherington, also working on Elvira now. Both are comic industry veterans and have been very helpful to me with advice and encouragement.

This brings my Megacon 2003 convention report to a close. But, take a look at the last three pictures, those were taken on the way home.

Here is Matt, my husband the talented songwriter, starting our first hour of many to get home to our beloved Canada

Here's the sunset in Georgia, lovely 70 degree weather, no rain, oh it was wonderful

Here's what we found when we got home. Over 8 feet of snow on our lawn. WHAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
